I had already ordered an engine and six speed transmission from an unfortunate Lotus to be used as a replacement. As it turned out the reason the car would not start was due to the 10mm bolt on the SMT linkage sheering off. So, we drove down to Galveston bay and dragged the car onto a flat bed on a hundred degree Fahrenheit sunny day.Īfter rolling the car into my garage the inspection began. I thought great even though it was a notoriously bad SMT model. The car was listed as not running for $900. I had been looking for a fun & cheap chassis after selling my Elise.
